Diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in Cambridge
Whether you’ve had an accident or your pain came on gradually… if your symptoms started during or after sport, then we would call your condition a ‘sports injury’.
Sports injuries respond really well to physio. The treatment recommended will vary depending on how long you’ve had the injury, how severe it is and of course the type of sports injury.
Common types of injury treated here
We treat lots of different types of sports injuries here in our Cambridge clinic. The most common types we see include:
How a physiotherapist can help
If you’ve only just hurt yourself (acute sports injury) some of the early physiotherapy treatments we offer at our Cambridge clinic include ultrasound, sports taping, gentle joint mobilisations and sports massage. Our physios will advise you on the things you can do to help your injury heal quickly and well. We’ll get you back to the sport you enjoy as fast as possible with an effective, graded rehabilitation programme – specifically designed for your sport – to prevent any further problems.
If you’ve had your injury for a while (chronic sports injury) then you may have an old injury that hasn’t healed very well or the problem may be due to ‘overuse’.
As part of treatment our physiotherapists may examine the way you are moving (biomechanics), discuss your training patterns, look at your footwear and equipment and assess your technique and lifestyle as part of a comprehensive treatment plan to restore pain-free and unrestricted movement.
