Physiotherapy for RSI in Cambridge
Repetitive strain injury
Our hands are on the go for most of the day – writing, texting, typing, gripping and lifting – so it’s not surprising that most wrist and hand pain is caused by overuse. Accumulative strain in the ligaments, tendons, joints and muscles can cause inflammation and pain that significantly affects the things you are able to do at work and home.
Expert treatment
The key to treating overuse conditions of the hand effectively is to identify the main activity causing pain and look at your habits, posture and the equipment you use to find better ways of doing things. Our physiotherapists can advise on specially designed equipment (like an ergonomic mouse or keyboard) and give advice on when to take breaks and what to do during those breaks to relieve strain on your hands.
Climbing injuries and other hand conditions
We can also help people with arthritis in their hands, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, post operatively or after a fracture or fall.
Sometimes pain in the hand can actually be coming from a problem in your neck, shoulder or elbow, so a thorough examination of these joints is routinely carried out just to certain that nothing is missed.
Physiotherapy treatment programmes are bespoke to your individual needs. This is a specialist area of physiotherapy, so an experienced practitioner is vital.
One of our Physiotherapists, Paul Sharma, specialises in treating hands and in particular climbing injuries.
