What happens at my first appointment?

Your first appointment will be an hour-long session giving us plenty of time to discuss what the problem is, how it’s affecting you and what you want to achieve.

We’ll ask you some questions about your medical history and complete a thorough physical examination to get to the heart of the problem.

We’ll explain why you are experiencing pain and recommend the best treatment options. Then we’ll get straight on with treatment to relieve your symptoms and advise you on the things you can to do to help yourself.

Any stretches or exercises we prescribe will be tailored to your individual needs and we’ll send you them online with video links so you can be sure you are practicing them correctly at home, in between sessions with us.

Do I need to wear anything special or bring anything with me?

It might be necessary for you to remove some clothing so your physiotherapist can assess you properly. You may want to wear a vest top or bring a pair of shorts with you.

If you have any scans, X-rays, reports or information about your medication please do bring them to your first session.

Do I need to see my doctor first?

If you are paying for your own treatment then you don’t need to see your doctor beforehand. We can write to your GP after you have finished treatment to keep them up-to-date.

If you are claiming through your medical insurance please check with your provider first as you may need a referral from your GP.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your condition but your physiotherapist will let you know at the end of your first visit after you have been properly assessed.

How do I pay?

The simplest way is to use our online booking and payment system. You can also pay at our clinic using a debit card or by cash on the day of your appointment.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand that unexpected things do happen but please get in touch by email or phone as soon as you can if you know that you can’t attend your appointment.

Missed appointment or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in full. This includes cancellations due to a change in your work commitments, unexpected sickness or childcare issues. Our cancellation fee will not apply if you demonstrate a positive PCR or lateral flow test.

We do not accept cancellations over the weekend (Saturdays and Sundays), so if you need to cancel an appointment on a Monday, please contact us by 6pm on the Friday before.
